REVERB: The Road to Sustainable Music Industry
There is no denying the significant impact on the music industry has on the environment. Bus tour takes to significant carbon emissions and the implementation in large concert halls comes hand in hand with an incredible energy usage and excessive waste. Reverb was born of this problem.
Founded based in Portland, Maine Guster singer and guitarist Adam Gardner and his wife Lauren Sullivan reverb for music to make a green activity. The idea of the disconnect between Adam was created an environmentally friendly lifestyle while living at home and then negated these efforts on the road. Lauren, a longtime environmentalist, touring crafted a whole series of actions that could be taken on to make the path to sustainable and strive responsible.
Reverb launched in 2004, the greening of the joint tour by Barenaked Ladies and Alanis Morissette. To date, 1823 events and nearly 100 major tours (Dave Matthews Band, Bonnie Raitt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson) have benefited from her expertise. Reverb creates unique backstage greening Programs to combat the negative impacts of the industry.
"Each artist will work with which we can choose which elements of greening they like to integrate into their tour, "says Amy Makowiecki, Community Outreach Coordinator at Reverb." These decisions are a few things, including their interests, Budget, and what size venues they play is based. "
Greening Reverb offers options: to ensure that tour buses on sustainable energy sources lead the provision of local, organic catering, and green cleaning products for coaches and implementing recycling programs that use large amounts of waste generate control displays. Reverb even supports musicians in recycling guitar strings.
Always in the forefront of the sustainability movement, reverb often starts new Outreach programs to spread their message on the standard Music Tour. "A project that we are most proud of is our Campus Consciousness Tour," said Makowiecki. " This tour visits schools throughout the country, linking ecological range on campus with a great concert every night. "Past highlights include Guster, OAR, Ben Harper, Drake and Passion Pit. This spring, they will hit the road with Wiz Khalifa.
Reverb effect on the artist clearly resonates past initial consultation. During a recent performance at a university venue, described Jason Mraz's unique source of illumination: The show is stage lighting was completely out of Fashioned from recycled water bottles. Reverb planted Mraz tour in 2008, and he continues to deliver a message of sustainability to his fans.
